National Osteoporosis Foundation

The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) is the leading consumer and community-focused health organization dedicated to the prevention of osteoporosis and broken bones, the promotion of strong bones for life and the reduction of human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy and research.

Frax risk score

The FRAX® tool has been developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to evaluate fracture risk of patients. It is based on individual patient models that integrate the risks associated with clinical risk factors as well as bone mineral density (BMD) at the femoral neck.

American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is a United States-based association working to fight the consequences of diabetes, and to help those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to manage, cure and prevent diabetes (including type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and pre-diabetes); delivers services to hundreds of communities; and provides information for both patients and health care professionals

American Dietetic Association

The American Dietetic Association (ADA) is the United States’ largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, with nearly 72,000 members. Approximately 72% of ADA’s members are registered dietitians and about 2% are dietetic technicians, registered. The remainder of ADA’s members include researchers, educators, students, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, clinical and community dietetics professionals, consultants and food service managers.

National Lipid Association

The National Lipid Association (NLA) is a nonprofit, multidisciplinary medical society focused on enhancing the practice of lipid management in clinical medicine. The NLA represents more than 3,500 members in the United States and provides continuing medical education for physicians and other healthcare professionals to advance professional development and attain certification in clinical lipidology. The NLA’s public health mission is to help reduce deaths related to high cholesterol, and the Association defines “clinical lipidology” as “a multidisciplinary branch of medicine focusing on lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and their associated disorders.”

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association (AHA) is a non-profit organization in the United States that fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. It is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.” The American Heart Association publishes a standard for providing basic and advanced life support, including standards for proper performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The AHA offers the most widely accepted certification for basic life support (BLS). The AHA is now also a provider of training for first aid, in addition to CPR.

This organization is a grass-roots, volunteer-based organization, operated by and for women with PCOS and their families.

Endocrine Society

“Founded in 1916, The Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest, largest, and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology. The Society works to foster a greater understanding of endocrinology amongst the general public and practitioners of complementary medical disciplines and to promote the interests of all endocrinologists at the national scientific research and health policy levels of government”.

The Hormone Foundation

The Hormone Foundation is the “Endocrine Society’s public education affiliate, a leading source of hormone-related health information for the public, physicians, allied health professionals and the media”.

NIH Clinical Trials

ClinicalTrials.gov “is a registry and results database of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial’s purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. This information should be used in conjunction with advice from health care professionals.”

American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists

AACE stands for American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. Is a profesisonal organization devoted to the field of clinical endocrinology. It was founded in 1991. “Members of AACE are physicians with special education, training and interest in the practice of clinical endocrinology. These physicians devote a significant part of their career to the evaluation and management of patients with endocrine disease. All members of AACE are physicians (M.D. or D.O.) and a majority is certified by Boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Members of AACE are recognized clinicians, educators and scientists, many of whom are affiliated with medical schools and universities. Members of AACE contribute on a regular and continuing basis to the scientific literature on endocrine diseases and conduct medical education programs on this subject”.
